Mars' Johnson reaches 1,000

CWNC coach wins 400th

Mars junior guard Tai Johnson needed 17 points to reach 1,000 in her career.

She scored 18 to achieve the milestone as the Planets cruised to a 76-33 win over Plum in high school girls basketball action Thursday night.

Lauren Wasylson also scored 18 points for Mars (13-4, 7-1).

Bella Pelaia and Alek Johnson each pitched in 17 for the Planets.

Kylee Lewandowski scored 12 points to pace North Catholic.

Freeport was led by Jenna Manke with nine points and Madeline Clark eight points.

Knoch 55, Burrell 37 — Kayla Grafton poured in 21 points to lead the Knights to this section victory.

Hannah Rowe added 20 for Knoch (8-9, 6-2).

Swimming

Slippery Rock's Emma Plank won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly and was also a member of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays as the Rocket girls posted a 95-75 victory over Oil City.

In the boys meet, the Rockets received wins from Trent Donaldson in the 100 butterfly and Heston Suorsa in the 100 backstroke, but Oil City won as a team 101-48.

Rifle

Andrew Arbanas, Tiffany Carlson, Gabe Slagle, Cameron Tack, Taryn Thompson, Jason Hansotte and Chase Runyan each shot 100s as Butler beat Penn-Trafford 798-58x to 789-42x.
