9:09 p.m. Tuesday — Connor Gray, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup truck crashed on McCalmont Road near Eckstein Road.

Police said he lost control of his truck around a curve and struck a tree. The pickup climbed an embankment and hit a guide wire attached to a utility pole. The pole snapped and fell across the road.

The wreck closed the road for several hours to allow work crews from West Penn, Armstrong Cable and Century Link to complete repairs.

Gray was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Police said DUI charges are pending toxicology results.

7:37 a.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt in a three-vehicle wreck on the Route 422 east off-ramp at Route 356.

The crash happened when a car driven by Jack L. Miller Jr., 64, of Emlenton, Venango County, struck a stopped car driven by Susan Provan, 41, of Fredonia, Mercer County. Provan’s car, in turn, was pushed into a sport utility vehicle driven by Nicole Carter, 43, of Campbell, Ohio.

Carter was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with a minor injury. Police cited Miller for driving at an unsafe speed.

Monday — Tanya M. Johnston, 28, of Butler was charged with felony shoplifting after an incident last month at the Moraine Pointe Plaza Giant Eagle.

Police said a store employee stopped Johnston about 3:15 p.m. Nov. 21 after she walked out with a shopping cart full of merchandise. When stopped, according to court documents, she was loading the items, valued at a combined $286.27, into her vehicle.

Johnston, who has three prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with a felony count of retail theft.

8:25 p.m. Saturday — A man and woman teamed up during an alleged shopping incident at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Ashley D. Myers, 30, of Chicora is accused of switching price tags on five items while Lucas J. McMaster, 31, of Butler scanned the merchandise at the self-checkout registers, according to court documents.

Police said McMaster also tried to pocket a container of Old Spice deodorant and hid a “Hathimal” under a pair of pants he scanned. A Hatchimal is an interactive stuffed animal.

A search of Myers turned up a baggie of suspected methamphetamine, documents said. In her purse, she allegedly had medication for which she did not have prescriptions, and other drug contraband.

Myers, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with felony counts of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft, and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She also was cited for summary trespass, having been banned from the store in February.

McMaster has one prior shoplifting conviction. He is charged with a misdemeanor retail theft and felony conspiracy to commit retail theft.

Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating a case of suspected indecent assault in Buffalo Township. Investigators did not identify the suspect, a 19-year-old man who has no known address. A police report described the victim as 9-year-old Sarver girl.

No other information was immediately released.

11:57 p.m. Monday — David D. Schrey, 50, and Kathryn L. Rozic, 50, of Evans City were arrested after a suspected domestic dispute involving weapons at his home on Ash Stop Road in Forward Township.

Police said they were called to the home for a report of a woman who had cut a man with a knife. The man, according to a police report, had reportedly armed himself with a pellet gun.

Troopers got there and found Schrey and Rozic both unarmed. They were each arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. Following arraignment Schrey and Rozic were placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 and $5,000 bail, respectively.

Monday — John J. Knox, 45, of Fairview Township was charged with being 2½ times the legal limit for alcohol following a traffic stop about 11:45 p.m. Nov. 24 in Fairview Township.

Police said they stopped Knox after they saw his car, traveling 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, cross over both the double yellow and fog lines on Petrolia Road near Hickory Road. He acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier that night, court documents said.

He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Butler police station for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.20 percent, documents said. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Knox is charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.02 percent or greater while his license was suspended, driving without a license, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes. speeding, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

Monday — Terry V. Ulisky. 60, of Parker Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Fairview Township. He was pulled over Nov. 17, police said, after his sport utility vehicle crossed the double yellow line and into a trooper’s lane on Route 68.

Ulisky failed field sobriety testing and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports showed he had marijuana in his system, according to court documents.

He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.02 percent or greater while his license was suspended and disregarding traffic lanes.

Monday — Police obtained a felony arrest warrant for Adam Logan, 33, of Gibsonia on charges he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Clay Township last month.

Logan on Nov. 20 allegedly walked into the unlocked home on McGregor Road after being told he was not permitted there, court documents said. Once inside, he is accused of moving around items and furniture while looking for the woman’s cell phone.

“When he found (the phone),” according to a police affidavit, “he started questioning her about who she was dating and then later took the phone with him ...”

Police said they contacted Logan by telephone that same day and he agreed to come to the barracks for questioning. But he never showed up and has not answered any subsequent calls from police.

He is charged with burglary, defiant trespass, theft and disorderly conduct.

Monday — Police charged an Alabama man with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol following a one-vehicle crash last month in Summit Township.

Police said William J. Parrish, 21, of Luvern lost control of his pickup truck Nov. 6 on Herman Road and rolled onto its side.

Parrish admitted he had been drinking earlier at a friend’s home, according to court documents. He submitted to a portable breath test device that confirmed he had alcohol in his system.

The defendant, who suffered unspecified injuries, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Toxicology tests from a subsequent blood test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.192 percent, documents said.

In addition to DUI, Parrish is charged with careless driving, failing to keep right and disregarding traffic lanes.

Monday — An arrest warrant was issued for an Allegheny County man accused of trying to illegally buy a firearm at a Summit Township gun store in August.

Police said Samuel L. Burford, 60, of Creighton allegedly provided false information on a federal form that was required Aug. 9 when he attempted to buy a 9 mm at Sportsman’s Supply.

When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.

Burford is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.

Monday — Police charged Christopher P. Benninger, 25, of Summit Township with drugged driving in connection with a traffic stop last month in Center Township. He was pulled over about 10 p.m. Nov. 11 for not using his left-turn signal on Route 8 at Sunset Drive.

Benninger admitted that he had been smoking marijuana about an hour before he was stopped, according to court documents. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which confirmed he had marijuana in his system.

He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and failing to use turn signals.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

10:04 a.m. Monday — A driver on a cell phone crashed a car into a fence before ending in a field on Lemmon Hollow Road in East Franklin Township. Police did not identify the driver, who faces a ticket for texting while driving.

2 a.m. Sunday — Ervin T. Deal Jr., 57, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 38-year-old woman during a domestic dispute at his home on Nichola Road in West Franklin Township. The victim suffered facial injuries, according to a police report.

Deal was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $2,500 bail.

1:56 a.m. Sunday — A 43-year-old Portersville man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28/66 about one-half mile north of Route 85 in Rayburn Township.

2:18 p.m. Saturday — Matthew L. Garman, 37, of Kittanning was arrested for allegedly trying to get into a home on Clay Avenue in Pine Township, Armstrong County. Police believe he was impaired on drugs.

Troopers found him walking on the Allegheny River Bike Trial in Templeton. He was later arraigned on a felony charge of trespass and a summary charge of public drunkenness. He was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail following arraignment.
