[naviga:h3]BLT presents ‘Lion in Winter’[/naviga:h3]

“The Lion in Winter” will be staged in reader’s theater format at the Butler Little Theatre, One Howard St.

The Lab performance group brings James Goldman’s comedy/drama for one night only at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16.

Set during Christmas 1183, “The Lion in Winter” tells the wickedly amusing tale of King Henry II, his imprisoned queen (released only for the holiday), and their three entitled sons who vie for the throne.

Best known for the film adaptation starring Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn, this funny drama is a high-stakes chess game where the pieces constantly change sides and no one is spared the verbal dueling.

Reader’s theater is a style of theater in which the actors use only vocal expression to help the audience understand the story rather than visual storytelling such as sets, costumes and movement.

Tickets will be available at the door for $5.
