Tanya Satteson, concertmistress of the Butler County Symphony Association, and pianist Nancy DeSalvo will perform the inaugural concert of a new Recital Series.
New series to offer classical solo, chamber selections

The Butler County Recital Series will have its inaugural concert Saturday.

The organization plans to share classical solo and chamber repertoire with the community through regular performances.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.

Performing Saturday will be violinist Tanya Satteson, concertmistress of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Nancy DeSalvo.

Both are both graduates of the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Satteson, a resident of Cranberry Township, has performed across Canada and the United States, and has won many accolades and awards.

She is a three-time national first-place winner at the Canadian Music Competition National Finals, and has appeared as soloist with several orchestras, including the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra, and most recently, Butler.

She was appointed concertmistress of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra in 2013.

DeSalvo is an associate professor at Westminster College in New Wilmington. A pianist and collaborative artist, she performs extensively across the United States and is the pianist of the Amici Trio.

She has been awarded first prize at the Darius Milhaud Performance Auditions and received the Gwendolyn Koldofsky Award.

DeSalvo worked as a collaborative pianist in the studio of violin teacher Dorothy Delay at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.

An additional concert for the 2017-2018 season is planned Jan. 20.
