FOXBURG — Union/A-C Valley came into Friday night's contest against Clarion-Limestone determined to get off to a better start than they did last week.

The Falcons fell behind 30-0 to Imani Christian in Week Zero before coming alive in the second half.

The reverse was true against the Lions, however, as Union/AC Valley scored the first 14 points against Clarion-Limestone only to see the Lions score 40 unanswered in a 40-14 defeat in the conference opener for both teams.

The Falcon Knight (0-2, 0-1) scored on the opening possession of the game, as Greg Duncan scored on a 27-yard run, capping off a 6-play, 67-yard drive for a 6-0 lead.

After forcing Clarion-Limestone to punt on the Lions' first possession, Union/A-C Valley struck again, this time through the air as quarterback Lucas Bowser hit Brendan Price for 52-yard score to increase the lead to 14-0 after a successful 2-point conversion.

From there it was all Clarion-Limestone.

The Lions got on the board on their next possession when Chris Peace ran the ball in from 7 yards out to cut the lead to 14-6. Clarion-Limestone added two more touchdowns in the second quarter.

With C-L getting the second half kickoff, they it had nearly an eight-minute drive.

Even though it ended in a turnover, it effectively took the wind out of the sails of Union/AC Valley.

Union/A-C Valley coach David Louder was not too pleased with his team's overall effort.

“Last week we played three quarters and had one awful quarter,” Louder said. “This week we only played one quarter. It's head scratching.”

Greg Duncan rushed 22 times for 117 yards and quarterback Lucas Bowser threw for 153 yards.
