[naviga:h3]Night at Races planned June 9[/naviga:h3]

Maridon Museum will host a Night at the Races from 6:30 to 10 p.m. June 9 at Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora, for those age 21 and older.

Tickets are $25, and reservations are due by June 2.

The exhibit “A Cosmic Contemporary Collaboration” continues through June 3 at the museum at 322 N. McKean St.

Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays.

Admission to the museum is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8 accompanied by an adult. Call 724-282-0123 or visit maridon.org.

[naviga:h3]Authors to talk about ‘Severed’[/naviga:h3]

BUTLER TWP — V. Eric and Bonnie Kotter will present a program about their book “Severed” at 7 p.m. Saturday at Seventh-day Adventist Church’s auditorium, 290 Meridian Road.

The book tells the story of the families of Estonians who were sent to Siberia during World War II.

The Kotters will be signing copies of their book, which will be provided free by the church.

Butler County Historical Society’s annual meeting will have a program on “Echoes and Reflections on the Holocaust” presented by James Lucot, a teacher at Seneca Valley High School.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. June 6 at the YWCA, 120 W. Cunningham St.

Cost is $17 per person for members and $20 for non-members.

Reservations must be received no later than Tuesday.

[naviga:h3]Carnegie opens ‘Poison’ exhibit[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — “The Power of Poison” exhibition is scheduled to open Saturday at Carnegie Museum of Natural History, 4400 Forbes Ave.

Visitors can explore a jungle, solve a poisoning mystery, and step into a fairytale at the show packed with interactive exhibits, live animals and dramatic displays.

The exhibition, organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York, will run through Sept. 4.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Saturdays with extended hours until 8 p.m. Thursdays and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays; closed Tuesdays and major holidays. FRAZER TWP, Allegheny County — The Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory with Star Parties at 8:45 p.m. June 2 and 3 at the observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, near the village of Russellton.
