ENGAGED GIRLS PARTY — Gloria Abdou was the guest speaker at the Engaged Girls party given by Butler Welcome Wagon sponsors March 21, 1972, at the Holiday Inn, now site of the Days Inn. Abdou’s topic was Consumer Power in the Super Market. Shown at the Foodland display, from left, are Renee Walker and Roberta Hurwitz, college friends helping Mrs. Hy Hurwitz, master of ceremonies for the annual fete, and Abdou. Entertainment for future brides included a style show by Irene’s of Saxonburg, a variety of prizes and gifts from the sponsors, and refreshments. Acccording to Mrs. Hurwitz, 25 exhibits had been prepared to enlighten the guests, 80 brides-to-be, their mothers and prospective mothers-in-law.
