A basic boating course offered by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission will be presented from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Unionville Fire Hall, 102 Mahood Road. The course is for age 11 and older, and those younger than 18 must be accompanied by adult. Admission is free, but reservations are required and available by calling the DCNR Moraine State Park office at 724-368-8811 or nasimon@pa.gov. Registration deadline is Friday.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will have a free introduction to snowshoeing for age 8 and older from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 28; registration is required by Wednesday. A free Full Moon Snowshoe Experience for age 9 and older is planned for 7 p.m. Feb. 10; register by Feb. 7. Home Sweet Home: Backyard Maple Sugaring will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 11 followed by an optional tour of Jennings’ sugar bush from 1 to 2 p.m. Register by calling 724-794-6011.
