BodyWorks exhibit explores mechanics of human systems

PITTSBURGH — BodyWorks uses brand new interactive exhibits, live shows and demonstrations to explore the mechanics that make up human beings at the Carnegie Science Center as a new permanent exhibit.

Visitors interact with a variety of medical technologies and have the chance for hands-on exploration of different human systems. The exhibit examines the body's muscles and bones, heart and lungs, digestive system, and brain and nerves.

Highlights of the exhibit include, among others:

What Does a Baby Look Like in the Womb?

How Does My Brain 'See' a Word?

Why Do My Bones Break?

Intestine Pull!

Gas Seat

Do Smells Trigger Memories?

BodyWorks is the third facet of the BodyTech initiative between the Science Center and Allegheny Health Network and Highmark. The first phase, the BodyStage, opened in 2014, followed by the traveling science show Anatomy Adventure in 2015.
