[naviga:h3]Symphony hosts Cornetti[/naviga:h3]

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra's concert Saturday features “Marianne Cornetti Returns” at 7:30 p.m. in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

A Knoch High School graduate, Cornetti is recognized as one of the leading Verdi mezzo-sopranos in the world.

Butler Symphony music director and conductor Matthew Kraemer will present a pre-concert lecture beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students, plus a handling fee, available at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St.; by calling 724-283-1402; and at www.ShowClix.com.

[naviga:h3]Washington walk planned[/naviga:h3]

BRADY TWP — The public can hike through history and enjoy some cherry pie on Feb. 20 in honor of George Washington's birthday and his journey through the region.

Hikers will meet re-enactors portraying Washington and his guide Christopher Gist, as well as Native Americans.

The event starts at 8:45 a.m. Exhibits and the re-enactor encampment will be closed about 2 p.m.

Events are at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road.

The event, including refreshments, is free. Visitors can choose from several hikes and walks.

The sizes of hiking groups are limited, so participants are urged to reserve their spaces by calling 724-452-7341.

The annual commemoration is sponsored by Washington's Trail 1753, Historic Harmony, the Butler Chapter of the North Country Trail Association, Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau, North Country Brewing and Jennings.

[naviga:h3]Heinz hosts kids NFL camp[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — The Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum at the Senator John Heinz History Center is challenging kids to get active at the fourth annual NFL Play 60 Training Camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. As part of the event, admission to the museum is free for children 17 and younger, courtesy of Dick's Sporting Goods. Admission for adults is $16, and for senior citizens $14.
