CWNC blows by Northgate, 33-7

Moniteau, Summit lose

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic junior running back Mario Latronica tallied 132 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in the Trojans' 33-7 football win over Northgate Friday night at Stone Field.

Latronica's scoring runs came from one yard out in the first quarter and two yards in the second period.

North Catholic quarterback Erick Taylor completed 12 of his 16 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns (11, 1), both to Vashon Graham.

Khalil Weathers capped the scoring with a 5-yard run in the fourth period.

Punxsutawney 41, Moniteau 10 — The Warriors fell behind 28-3 in the first quarter and sustained a KSAC-Large Division thumping at the hands of the Chucks.

Derek Boben was 13-of-25 for 125 yards and also rushed for 75 yards in a losing cause.

Corey Goyak scored Moniteau's lone touchdown on a scoring run and ended the game with 59 yards on six carries. Steven Fawcett added a 26-yard field goal.

Highlands 42, Summit Academy 24 — The Knights jumped out to an 18-0 first-quarter lead before falling to the Golden Rams in this Allegheny Conference clash.

The outburst of points included a pair of defensive scores for Summit — a 50-yard fumble return by Moshe James and a 16-yard interception return from Earl Davis, who opened the game with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Highlands then reeled off 42 straight points to squash the upstart Knights.

Tyron Meeks caught a 32-yard pass from Ahkeem Harris to close the scoring in the fourth quarter.

Boys Soccer

Adam Mascio and Gage Bitzer both scored twice to power Seneca Valley to a 6-0 win over Norwin at the Chartiers Valley Tournament.

Matthew Happ and Alex Laslavic also scored and Luke Pecora tallied four saves in the shutout.

Plum 0, Knoch 0 — At the Shaler Tournament, the Mustangs were awarded the win after outscoring Knoch 5-4 in penalty kicks.
