Friday — Police charged a former Kmart employee with cheating the store at the Pullman Square shopping plaza out of more than $600 by making fraudulent returns.

The suspect, Thrissa M. Beck, 43, allegedly credited the store’s accounts for $633.86 worth of merchandise that was never returned, according to court documents. Police said store surveillance video shows her committing the scheme earlier this month.

Beck is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor theft.

Friday — Stephanie M. O’Malley, 20, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from two suspected hit-and-run crashes July 11.

Police said they were first called about 8:45 p.m. for a report of a car hitting a vehicle parked on Johnson Street. The driver of the car did not stop but a witness provided officers with a license plate number, according to court documents.

While investigating the first wreck, police learned of a second crash involving the same car and a parked vehicle in the 600 block of West Penn Street.

Officers a short time later found the suspect in her car at a convenience store parking lot on West Jefferson Street. Police said it appeared O’Malley had been drinking.

“(She) proceeded to apologize,” documents said, “stating that she was sorry for what happened and that she fled because she was drinking and scared.”

O’Malley was given a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.086 percent, documents said. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

She is charged with driving under the influence, DUI by a minor, hit-and-run, possession of a small amount of marijuana and underage drinking.

7:50 p.m. Wednesday — Clayton J. Rennick, 33, was arrested on a bench warrant at his apartment in the 200 block of North Main Street. But when Butler County sheriff’s deputies nabbed him, they also found a used syringe and several empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, court documents said.

Additionally, authorities found Daniel T. Gibson, 27, of Butler, in the apartment. He, too, was caught with a used syringe, according to documents. Police charged Rennick and Gibson each with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Monday — Police charged Chad Scott, 42, of Mars in connection with a purse snatching earlier this month. Scott about 4 p.m. July 7 allegedly stole the purse from a shopping cart at the Moraine Pointe Plaza Giant Eagle store. Employees stopped him before he could leave.

Scott is charged with theft and disorderly conduct.

Monday — Tony S. Osborne, 24, of Butler was charged with shoplifting about $162 worth of jewelry and electronics at the Butler Commons’ Target, while working there between June 26 and 30. He is charged with retail theft.

Monday — Police charged Victoria Conley, 19, and Bobbie L. Hancheck, 19, both of Butler, with shoplifting at two stores at Butler Commons June 29.

The women were nabbed by employees before they could leave Walmart. Police said the pair ate snacks and left a trail of wrappers throughout the store. Conley and Hancheck allegedly stole $61 and $84 worth of merchandise, respectively.

Police said in searching the suspects’ purses, they found clothing items the women allegedly swiped a short time earlier from the Target store. Conley is accused of taking about $142 in merchandise and Hancheck is suspected of taking $20 worth of items from Target.

Both women are charged with two counts each of retail theft.

10:49 a.m. Sunday — Vehicles driven by Randy J. Perkins, 24, of Butler and Charles Cahall, 76, of Callery collided on New Castle Road at the Sheetz store. Police cited Perkins for improperly entering or crossing a road.

9:45 p.m. Saturday — Edward A. Watterson, 51, of Butler was cited for public drunkenness after he caused a disturbance at the Eat ‘n Park restaurant on New Castle Road.

4:05 a.m. Saturday — Christopher W. Smith, 19, of Butler suffered minor injuries after the car he was driving hit a tree along Vogel Road. Smith’s vehicle sustained severe front-end damage.

Police said Smith never reported the accident to police. He was cited for failing to immediately report an accident to police

7:53 p.m. Friday — Matthew R. Tolley, 29, of Portersville was caught with suspected heroin after suffering an apparent drug overdose in the 400 block of Kohler Avenue in Lyndora. Police said they found him with seven stamp bags of suspected heroin.

Tolley is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

11:55 a.m. July 13 — Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck at Hansen Avenue and Whitestown Road. Both drivers, John W. Sanders, 91, and Sarah Matson, 28, both of Butler, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Butler Township District 3 and Butler Ambulance Service assisted police at the scene. Police cited Sanders for making an improper left turn.

July 13 — Krystal K. Krauchak, 27, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant at Butler Memorial Hospital. Police were initially called to the hospital for a report of a disorderly man. When officers got there, they found Krauchak with the man.

Officers searched her and found suspected drug contraband. Police charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia.

6:20 p.m. July 8 — Roger P. Wilson, 40, was arrested after he allegedly wielded a handgun during a domestic dispute with his longtime girlfriend at their home in the 200 block of Glade Mill Road.

No one was injured in the altercation that played out with the couple’s two children also at the home, according to court documents. Police also accused Wilson with breaking the strap of his girlfriend’s purse.

Wilson was arraigned on charges of reckless endangerment, harassment and criminal mischief, and later released on nonmonetary bail.

9:50 p.m. July 6 — An unknown burglar fled a home on Saxonburg Road in Jefferson Township after pushing a 16-year-old boy to briefly get inside.

The boy told police that he opened the basement door after the suspect knocked on it. The man pushed the teenager through the room and into another door before leaving.

The suspect is described as in his 20s or 30s, no taller than 5 feet, 10 inches with a medium build. The man had a bald head with no facial hair. He was wearing jeans and a green hooded sweat shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

July 6 — Someone damaged a 35-year-old man’s mailbox on Sunbury Road in Slippery Rock Township. The vandalism happened between 12:01 and 5:30 a.m. There are no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

11:12 p.m. Sunday — Gregory Baker, 46, of Kittanning was arrested after allegedly punching a 38-year-old Kittanning woman during an argument on Wyant Road in North Buffalo Township.

Baker was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $5,000 bail.

545 a.m. Wednesday — Michael L. Peterson, 53, of Grove City was hurt when he lost control of his pickup truck and hit a mailbox and tree along Scrubgrass Road in Wolf Creek Township.

Peterson, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police cited him for disregarding traffic lanes.

8 p.m. June 29 — An unidentified vehicle struck several fence posts along Route 388 just north of Princeton Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash.
