BUTLER TWP — Bill May will present “The Biddle Boys: Escape, Capture and Death of Butler County's Most Notorious Outlaws” at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Carousel Shelter at Alameda Park.Admission is free to the 60-minute program sponsored by Butler County Parks and Recreation.Ed and Jack Biddle had been convicted of the killing a grocer and a police detective in Pittsburgh in 1901 and were sentenced to hang in the Allegheny County Jail. Ed Biddle seduced the wife of Warden Peter Soffel into aiding their escape. Stealing a sleigh, their journey north would bring them through the streets of Butler to a shootout with police on the road between Mount Chestnut and Prospect.Call 724-284-5383 for more information.

PORTERSVILLE — The Portersville Steam Association will present its 52nd antique power show July 31 and Aug. 1, 2 and 3 at the Portersville show grounds, 1512 Perry Highway.Steam powered saw milling, threshing, baling, fans and engines will be displayed along with old gasoline engines, oil field equipment, farm tractors and antique cars.Also planned are parades, tractor pulls, train rides, operating model trains, a vintage village, flea market and crafts.Admission is $2 for Thursday and Sunday and $5 for Friday and Saturday. BRADY TWP — The Old Stone House will be the site of a French and Indian War Weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 10The annual Conflict on the Venango French and Indian War encampment will have activities including a complete living history encampment, military demonstrations and battle re-enactments. Period craftsmen and traders will set up unique displays showcasing colonial-era living.Admission is $3 per person or $5 per family.The Old Stone House is at the intersection of Routes 8, 173 and 528. Here Comes Treble, sponsored by Greater Harmony Chorus, will compete in the Rising Star Contest on Aug. 2 in Lowell, Mass.Here Comes Treble is the Lake Erie Region 17 — Sweet Adelines Young Women in Harmony championship quartet.The group is made up of Catriona Reynolds, senior from Knoch High School, Maeve Hendricks, a sophomore at Penn State, and sisters Hannah Clifford, a freshman at Slippery Rock University, and Ariel Clifford, a sophomore at Westminster College.They were coached by Lynn Ross and Jennifer Fogle.
