Alton Davison

Alton Melville Davison, 95, of Zelienople went to be with his Lord on Wednesday at Passavant Retirement Community.

Born Oct. 8, 1918, in Zelienople, he was the son of the late Carl and Leona Davison.

Alton was a faithful and active member of St. Peter's Reformed Church in Zelienople for 72 years, serving as Sunday school superintendent and president of the consistory.

He was raised as a farmer in Cranberry Township on acreage that is now the site of the new Victory Church. After the family sold the farm, he worked at Johns Manville and later as the manager of Dambaugh Lumber. Alton retired from Lakeland Millwork as a salesman.

An athlete in his own right, he spent many loyal years coaching his sons in Little League, and he loved watching their games as they advanced through high school and college athletics.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Eleanor “Jean” (Mickley) of New Haven Court at Passavant Retirement Community; his devoted sons, James A. Davison and his wife, Mimi, of Zelienople and Larry D. Davison and his wife, Patricia, of Kirkland, Mo.; his grandchildren, James, Patrick, Christopher and Aimee Davison; and his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Anthony, Delanie, Ryan and Kate Davison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hope Davison.

DAVISON — The family of Alton Melville Davison, who died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, will welcome friends on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Reformed Church, 314-320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. James R. Bertoti officiating.He will be laid to rest privately by his family at St. Peter's Reformed Church Cemetery in Zelienople.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his honor in support of St. Peter's Reformed Church.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Alton's family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
