An own goal by West Virginia Wesleyan 20 minutes into the second half broke a scoreless tie that helped to send the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the host squad Thursday in the season opener.
Ashley Paganie added an insurance goal for The Rock off a pass from Kara Mullins.
