Food bank benefited

Some years ago Anne Murray recorded a song with the message "sure could use a little good news today."
Thanks to the generosity of a number of local businesses, clubs and the leadership and youth of the 4-H and Future Farmers of America organizations, the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank of Butler had a very good day on Aug. 13.
The 33rd annual 4-H and FFA Junior Livestock Sale was held at the Butler Farm Show on Aug. 12. Amerikohl Mining, Inc., purchased a beef animal from Ashley Brehm and a hog from Benjamin Drake. Butler County Ford bought two hogs, one from Gilbert Osche and another from Julianna DiPippa. And, the PM Rotary Club of Butler purchased a hog from Alyssa Tice.
These animals were then donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank.
The benevolence of these Butler County people, and that of Welter's Meat Shop, makes our mission possible, that of "Helping Us Help Others."
The youths in the 4-H and FFA livestock program are an example of Butler County at its best.
As a senior citizen, I am very comfortable in passing the torch to this generation.
