Metcalfe candidacy praised
Frank Wm. MooreMars
Reid Joyce and Joe LoBue have again spewed their vile sputum against one of our best lawmakers in the state House of Representatives, Daryl Metcalfe. Letters to the editor by Joyce and LoBue were printed in the Butler Eagle on March 12 and 14.
The letter writers did not deal with the specificity of what it is that Metcalfe has done or is doing that is to their disliking. But they do bring up that old dog, the Ku Klux Klan.
That subject has been rebutted and proven to be a total fabrication and lie. They only bring that up to besmirch Metcalfe's good name.
Can't they come up with something of their own? I seem to remember that their hero, U.S. Sen. Robert Byrd of W.Va., was an active and esteemed member of the, uh, KKK.
Joyce and LoBue both incorrectly imply that Metcalfe does not have the best interests of his constituents at heart because he is seeking to run for lieutenant governor. Metcalfe's ambition to try for this statewide position impresses me because it shows he is willing to serve not only local 12th District citizens but is willing to take on the responsibilities of this august position as well.
Some of us tried to get Metcalfe to run for U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire's position.
Joyce and LoBue also stated that Metcalfe is ridiculed and reviled within his own district. That might be true with left-wing liberal subversives. But, let us look at the reality here.
Metcalfe and many of his friends and followers recently walked the streets to gather signatures on petitions for both his run for re-election to the House and for the position of lieutenant governor. He is so reviled that we had no problems in acquiring numerous signatures, proving that there is no question as to the popularity of this man as a representative of the 12th District.
He also will provide outstanding service as lieutenant governor if he is elected to that position in November.
And, finally, no one person can satisfy all the people all the time. But, Metcalfe does get at least 92 percent of my backing — and that is good enough for me.
Joyce and LoBue keep harping on their misinterpretation of Metcalfe's comments regarding ex-military personnel and their left-wing liberal subversive actions.
Yes, I do agree with Metcalfe's positions on such subjects as the elimination of teachers' right to strike and elimination of aid to criminal illegal aliens.
