4:16 p.m. Tuesday — An elderly city man was injured when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross East Jefferson Street near Franklin Street.Harry Jackson, 79, was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for moderate injuries to his left knee, according to a police report.Police said a 1995 Buick Opal driven by Carl Heck, 61, of Butler hit Jackson.Heck was southbound on Franklin Street when a vehicle in front of the car turned east onto East Jefferson Street. Heck told police he did not see Jackson, who was attempting to cross the road from the southern curb of East Jefferson Street.No charges were filed.9:48 p.m. Monday — Michael D. Pastorius, 46, of Lyndora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Seventh and Ridge avenues.4:58 p.m. Sunday — Two Butler men face drug charges following an alleged marijuana deal on West Cunningham Street.Apolice informant notified authorities that he had seen the deal, and moments later both suspects — Benjamin Eakin, 28, and Gerry Kendall, 26 — were in custody.Officers found Eakin with a cigarette box containing four individually packaged small plastic bags with a combined 19.1 grams of suspected marijuana.Kendall was found holding a bag with 4.6 grams of suspected marijuana, according to a police report. Police cited Kendall for possession of a small amount of marijuana.Eakin was arraigned on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bond.9:06 p.m. Saturday — A Saxonburg woman was hurt when a large black dog running loose knocked her off a bicycle on Eau Claire Street.Kelly Shaffer, 23, suffered scrapes, bruises and swelling to her elbows. She complained of severe pain to the left elbow, a police report said.Police cited two nearby residents who own large black dogs that were running loose at the time. Charged for failing to confine their dogs are Donna McKissick, 38, and Meloni Green, 28.
9:02 p.m. Saturday — A Butler man and a Texas woman face drug- and traffic-related charges after police stopped their car on Route 422.The car, according to a police report, had a Texas license plate that was expired, and the windshield was damaged. Police identified Bruce Jon Basham, 31, as the driver and Laura Ann Baker, 33, of Hurst, Texas, as a passenger.An officer saw items of suspected drug paraphernalia in the passenger compartment and learned that Basham was a suspended driver in Pennsylvania and Baker a suspended driver in Texas.Police said both suspects are charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and other traffic violations.
5:47 a.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Donny Akins, 22, of Slippery Rock caught fire as it traveled south on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. Akins managed to pull over and get out of the pickup uninjured as flames engulfed his 2005 Dodge Dakota. Portersville volunteer firefighters were called and put out the fire.2:15 a.m. Tuesday — A 47-year-old Mercer man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Meridian and Loring roads in Butler Township.12:23 a.m. Tuesday — Michael P. Zimmel, 43, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Kittanning Street in Chicora.Tuesday — An unknown burglar between 5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday broke into the Toma Meat Market in Jefferson Township. Aburglar alarm, however, apparently scared off the would-be thief; no property was reported stolen.11:19 a.m. Monday — Richard Hoover, 61, of Butler suffered minor injuries when the car he was driving struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Route 528 in Brady Township.1:17 a.m. Monday — Adam Russell, 23, of Lyndora was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Bessemer Avenue in Butler Township.Monday — Someone between 12:30 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday broke a window at the Springdale Lutheran Church on Mahood Road in Concord Township. Police said the church was possibly entered but nothing was taken.Monday — An unknown burglar forced open a door at theHarris Road home of Todd Golab in Clearfield Township. A police report did not indicate if anything was taken in the burglary between 7 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday. A door jamb, however, sustained about $200 in damage.Monday — A 16-year-old boy is accused of exposing himself to motorists on Beacon Road in Forward Township on several occasions between November and Monday. The boy, who police did not identify, faces a charge of indecent exposure.
