Scoop's rolling along

Another week of perfection.

The Ol’ Scoopster is on a roll.

I went 11-0 last week to run my record to a sparkling 63-10.

That’s an .863 winning percentage.

That, in a work, is good.

Let’s see if I can improve on that percentage.

On to the picks:

Central Catholic 39, Butler 8 — The Golden Tornado have been moving the ball fairly consistently on the ground lately, but are still struggling in the passing game.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic has found a running back in Eddie Tillman, who gained 331 yards rushing last week.

The Vikings wear down Butler for this win.

Seneca Valley 20, Woodland Hills 9 — The Raiders have given up just 50 points in seven games this season.

Woodland Hills has trouble scoring.

It isn’t hard to do the math on this one.

Knoch 28, New Castle 23 — The Knights absolutely need this win to stay alive in the playoff race.

When Knoch as been backed into a corner this year, it has come out swinging.

Mars 34, Fox Chapel 11 — The Planets’ defense has been stingy all season and now the offense, led by workhorse back Garrett Reinke and quarterback Tyler Kowalkowski, is starting to put up some points.

Not a good combination for the Foxes.

North Catholic 52, Uniontown 8 — The Trojans are back to being the Trojans again.

Dominant.

Uniontown will be no match for North Catholic.

Freeport 30, Burrell 9 — After an 0-3 start, the Yellowjackets have won three straight.

Make that four.

Ridgway 33, Karns City 30 — This is a big test for the Gremlins, who seem to have turned the corner this season and gone back to being the Karns City that has dominated the district for years and years and years.

But this is a long trip to play an undefeated team coming off a big win over Clarion.

Karns City will take this one down to the wire but fall just short.

Moniteau 30, St. Marys 12 — Penalties and miscues continue to dog the Warriors, who outgained Brockway by more than 150 yards last week, but still lost.

Moniteau will bounce back at home.

Union/A-C Valley 39, Cameron County 12 — The Falcon Knights are a scary team that no one wants to play.

Union/A-C Valley moves to 4-4 with this win.

Slippery Rock 37, Hickory 14 — Quarterback Vito Pilosi’s last five completions have gone for 335 yards and five touchdowns.

That’s not too shabby.

Neither is the Rockets’ defense, which will continue to beat up on the opposition.

Valley 30, Summit Academy 14 — The Knights have a shot at this one, but they’ll have to score more than one touchdown.

Even two won’t be enough.

Scoop is off to his best start since he was hatched.
