JOHNSTOWN — It was a rough night for the Slippery Rock University men’s and women’s basketball teams Wednesday.
Both seasons ended as neither team qualified for the PSAC Tournament after suffering losses at the University of Pitt-Johnstown.
The SRU men couldn’t overcome a hot-shooting UPJ team that made 12 3-pointers in an 80-65 loss.
Butler graduate Nate Snodgrass scored 19 points and had six assists for the Mountain Cats (17-10, 13-8). A.J. Leahy had 20 points and eight rebounds.
Cornelius Brown closed his career by nearly becoming the first Rock player in more than 10 years to record a triple-double. Brown scored 18 points to go with nine assists and eight rebounds. Abdul King scored 20 points.
SRU finished 15-13.
In the women’s game, Lexi Carpenter scored a season-high 32 points for The Rock in an 84-72 loss.
