STATE COLLEGE — Caitlin Nealer struck out 10 and pitched a two-hitter, and Carly Bonk smacked a two-run double in Valley’s 3-1 victory Friday evening over Manheim Central to claim the PIAA Class AAA girls softball title.

Amanda Mascara followed Bonk’s big hit in the fourth with a triple scoring Bonk for the Vikings (18-2), a WPIAL team from New Kensington.

Alexa Campbell had six strikeouts and allowed six hits for Manheim (26-5). Campbell’s three runs were unearned after Valley’s fourth-inning rally started when Katrina George reached on a throwing error.

Manheim got on the board with two outs in the sixth after Ali Morton singled home Katelyn Grazan, but Nealer stuck out Samantha Ginder to end the threat.

Ginder had Manheim’s only other hit with a triple in the first.
