Butler Township police and emergency crews respond to rear-end crash on North Duffy Road near Butler Commons shopping plaza on Wednesday morning.

BUTLER TWP — A minor rear-end accident Wednesday morning ended with the at-fault driver's arrest.

It turned out that Shane Crissman, 31, of Butler was wanted on a bench warrant, Butler Township police said.

According to patrolman David Tedeski, Crissman was northbound on North Duffy Road shortly before 9:30 a.m. when the Dodge Caravan he was driving struck the back of a Jeep Patriot.

Crissman told police that he applied his brakes but could not stop in time, the officer said.

The Jeep, driven by Kenneth Wilson, 55, of Ford City, Armstrong County, was stopped at the traffic light at Seneca Drive near the Butler Commons shopping plaza.

Joanne Wilson, 81, of Ford City, one of two passengers in the Jeep, suffered apparent minor injuries. She was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Both vehicles were damaged and had to be towed.

Police eventually arrested Crissman, placing him in handcuffs, after they learned there was a warrant for him.Butler County Court records showed that the warrant was issued earlier this year in connection with a 2012 criminal mischief case in Butler.Crissman was taken to the Butler County Prison and released later in the afternoon.Tedeski said Crissman would likely be cited for driving at an unsafe speed and driving during suspension or without a license, stemming from the wreck.
