Florence D. Werner
Florence D. Werner, 86, of Renfrew died Saturday at her home.
Born July 21, 1925, in Butler, on the family farm, she was a daughter of the late Ray A. and Mary A. (Rohrer) Shimmel.
She was a homemaker, worked on the family farm and also had worked at Montgomery Ward in Butler.
Florence was a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, the Christian Mothers of St. Fidelis and the Order of Alhambra.
She had enjoyed boating, water-skiing, swimming, gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a fantastic roller skater, and when she was younger, she liked to ride horses.
Surviving are her three sons, Patrick A. Werner and his wife, Sharon, of Butler, Paul R. Werner of Butler and Edward A. Werner and his wife, Karen, of Herman; two daughters, Margaret E. “Peggy” Mercer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Marie E. Rhodes and Jim Kaufold of Renfrew; 11 grandchildren, Tony Werner, Stephanie Werner, A.J. Werner, Angela (Mercer) Swindell, Nathan Werner, Douglas Werner, Melanie Werner, Christian Werner, Juliane Barber, Rachel Frazier and Michelle Wright; nine great-grandchildren, Chancellor Werner, Van Mahler, Ayla Werner, Rylee Werner, Alexandra Wright, Parker Wright, Cooper Barber, Charlotte Barber and Wyatt Frazier.; six step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Mae Geibel of Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert H. Werner, who she married June 14, 1943, and who died Feb. 26, 2010; two grandchildren, Paula Mercer and Jason Kutch; two brothers, Charles and Robert Shimmel; and a sister, Agnes Heidenreich.
<B>WERNER</B> — Friends of Florence D. Werner, who died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.Members of the Bereavement Committee of the St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home for a parish vigil service.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
