Beiler

John “Jack” Wagner Beiler Jr., 92, of Penn Township, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026.

He was born Dec. 30, 1933, in Bristol, Pa., the son of the late John and Miriam (Boeshore) Beiler. He grew up in Langhorn, Pa., and was actively involved in the Boy Scout movement as an Eagle Scout and an Assistant Scoutmaster.

He graduated from Olney High School in northern Philadelphia in 1951 and from Penn State University in 1955. There, he became a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, serving as treasurer. This would be the first of many treasury offices he would hold throughout his long life.

After college, he served two years active duty with the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship USS Iowa. After completing his active duty, he joined the active Naval Reserve and retired as a lieutenant commander in 1969. Jack was a member of American Legion Post No. 117.

He joined Mellon Bank in 1957 as a management trainee and upon completion, he managed various branch banks in Western Pennsylvania. In the ‘70s, he was vice president and manager of the Butler branch at Morgan Center. After 40 years with Mellon, both in Butler and Pittsburgh, he retired in 1998 as senior vice president, credit policy.

After his “retirement,” Jack joined the Executive Service Corps of Western Pennsylvania as a volunteer consultant to nonprofit organizations. In 2002, he and his wife, Amy, received the Stewardship Award from the Endowment for Butler County in recognition of their service to the Butler Community.

His business involvement also included serving on the board of AGR International for many years. Over the past 50 years, Jack had been actively involved in many nonprofit organizations in the Butler area such as the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), Butler County Community College Foundation’s finance committee, United Way, president of the Human Relations Association, Butler Health Systems Foundation, Maridon Museum, YWCA and Butler Public Library. Jack served many years as the treasurer of the Butler County Democratic Committee and also served on the Pennsylvania State Committee.

Jack was awarded the Helen Keller award by the Butler County Blind Association for his years of service. He also served on his church council at First English Lutheran Church. It was at his church’s social hour where he heard the “Turkey joke” that he would tell to anyone who would listen. The Beilers have been members of the Butler County Country Club for the past 53 years.

Jack will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Amy; his son, John (Rhonda) Beiler III, of Golden, Colo.; and his granddaughter Kaylee (Ryan), of Emeryville, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Barbara Italia; and his brothers, Bob and Dick.

BEILER — Friends of John “Jack” Wagner Beiler Jr., who died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., Butler.

Interment will follow in the North Side Cemetery, Butler, with military honors.
