PUNXSUTAWNEY — State police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide discovered Saturday afternoon in a remote area of Oliver Township, Jefferson County. The victims each died of a single gunshot wound.

The bodies of Kathryn L. Divins, 54, and Ricky Lee Miller, 46, both of New Bethlehem, Clarion County, were found inside Miller’s vehicle by people riding all-terrain vehicles in a remote area along an abandoned rail line.

Police believe Miller shot Divins then killed himself. There is no indication that anyone else is involved, police said.

After an initial investigation, police learned the deceased were in a long-term relationship and lived together. They were in the area for the weekend and are believed to have gone to the Oliver Township site Friday evening.

The Jefferson County coroner’s office and the Oliver Township Fire Company assisted police at the scene. Police continue to investigate.
