Shuttle service smooth
PENN TWP — The logistics involved with getting to President Donald Trump's rally Saturday didn't seem to bother people looking for rides or the people who drove them.
West Airport Road and part of Three Degree Road were closed to traffic for the rally at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport and shuttle service was set up to ferry people from several makeshift parking lots to the rally.
One of those lots, a grass lot on Hicks Road, looked like a sea of parked cars and trucks.
Peggy Bieber of Zelienople made five trips between the lot and the airport by 6 p.m. driving an ABC Transport bus.
“People are excited,” Bieber said.
She said ABC had 23 buses working during the rally and at least three other bus companies deployed buses for the event.
A memorabilia and souvenir stand that was set up at the lot did a good business that day.
“A lot of souvenir shopping was done today as well,” she said.
Alexis McEathron of Butler bought a red T-shirt sporting the Trump and Vice President Mike Pence reelection campaign logo before boarding Bieber's bus.
She said she tried to drive to the rally, but police instructed her to park at the Hicks Road lot.
“I hope I get close enough to see him,” McEathron said.
She said she had never been to an election rally before. Voting for Trump is something she is also looking forward to.
“I'm voting in person. I want to make sure it's in ... make sure it counts and get counted,” McEathron said.
