Former Serventi's Restaurant building to be demolished this week
Workers from the demolition company begin the work of removing wooden planks from the front of the former Serventi's Restaurant building located on South Chestnut Street Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, a demolition crew started the process of tearing down the former Serventi’s Restaurant building on South Chestnut Street in the city’s Island Neighborhood.
The distinctive yellow building housed the popular Italian restaurant and lounge since 1955 before the owners sold it in April 2014.
The building was later home for a short time to a barbecue restaurant but has sat empty for the last several years.
The property is now owned by Lutheran Senior Life.
