Butler Transit Authority Tuesday approved a draft 2018-19 operations budget that does not include a fare increase.

Authority board members unanimously voted in favor of the $2.1 million budget, which must be approved by the state Department of Transportation before it becomes final, authority officials said.

Expenditures of $2,151,449 are matched by revenue of $1,966,344 from local, state and federal grants and $185,115 from fares. The budget includes a $216,289 reserve fund.

Commuter service to Pittsburgh is not in the operations budget. The commuter service budget will be reviewed at the authority’s next meeting on May 15.

In other business, the board hired Blue Archer of Pittsburgh to redesign the authority website for $15,587.

Shift Collaborative of Pittsburgh, which designed the current website about 10 years ago, submitted a lower bid of $14,725.

Blue Archer was recommended because the company will design the website to be easily managed by authority public relations and Internet technology manager Kelly Stewart and easy for people with disabilities to use, said John Paul, executive director.

Solicitor Rebecca Black said the authority is not required to make the website meet Americans With Disabilities regulations, but it could be in the future.

Paul said the redesign should be completed by the end of May.
