Sunday — An unknown thief stole tools and other items from the open bed of a 20-year-old Valencia man’s pickup truck at a home in the 500 block of Steiner Bridge Road in Middlesex Township. Among the items taken was a Toro snow blower, an orange tool box with assorted hand tools, an empty safe and a pine cabinet.

The theft happened between 9 and 10:30 p.m.

3:25 a.m. Friday — Morgan Pfabe, 21, of Butler County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 173 in Brady Township.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

11:25 a.m. Monday — A New Hampshire woman was hurt when she lost control of her car and crashed on Interstate 80 in Richland Township, Clarion County. Lyndsie M. Gillis, 27, of Nashua was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police said Gillis, who was wearing a seat belt, was westbound on the highway when her car went off the soft berm. While trying to regain control of the vehicle, it traveled across both westbound lanes and went off the north berm, up the embankment and rolled onto its roof.

The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department and Emlenton Ambulance assisted at the scene.

2:15 a.m. Monday — Mitchell L. Sheakley, 22, of St. Petersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup truck struck a tree along Route 388 in Perry Township, Clarion County.

Sheakley, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. He was treated at Clarion Hospital.

1:58 a.m. Saturday — Mark A. Andrus, no age given, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of DUI on South Sixth Avenue in Clarion.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

3:47 a.m. Sunday — An 18-year-old Ford City woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 66 in Manor Township. She also was found with suspected marijuana and drug contraband.

A passenger in the vehicle, also an 18-year-old Ford City woman who police did not identify, was believed to be intoxicated.

Charges against the driver for DUI and drug possession, and the passenger for underage drinking are pending following lab results.

Saturday — Eleven people in Armstrong County and six in Butler County were arrested for DUI stemming from roving patrols in the Troop D area over the Labor Day holiday period. The DUI detail was conducted between 10 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday.

Local police departments also assisted in the detail, dubbed “Operation Nighthawk.”

Along with the DUIs, police arrested two people — one each in Armstrong and Butler counties — on drug charges.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Franklin[/naviga:h3]

11:42 a.m. Friday — A Franklin man was hurt when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on Georgetown Road about one-half mile north of Old Route 8 in Irwin Township. Terry L. Rhome, 60, told police that the wreck happened when he swerved his bike to avoid a woodchuck on the road.

Rhome, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

7:48 p.m. Sunday — Evan W. Hile, 20, of Mercer was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed and rolled over numerous times before ending on its roof on Route 258 at Rudy’s Restaurant on Mercer Grove City Road in Findley Township.

3 p.m. Sunday — An Allegheny County couple was hurt when the motorcycle they were riding crashed onto its side on Route 358 at Lake Wilhelm Road in Perry Township, Mercer County.

Paul Saunders, 69, the driver, and Sandra Saunders, 67, his passenger, both of West Mifflin, were taken to Meadville Hospital in Crawford County following the crash. Police said both suffered minor to moderate injuries.
