BUTLER TWP — A one-vehicle accident resulted in a gas leak around 1:30 p.m. Friday in the parking lot near the intersection of Whitestown and South Duffy roads.

George Criswell of Butler Township said his car was in reverse as he was maneuvering his way out of a tight parking spot. He said he meant to press the brake but accidentally hit the gas pedal and backed down a hill and into a gas meter and the back wall of the Good Guyz Mini Mart.

Butler Township Fire District 3 personnel said natural gas was leaking from the meter and gasoline was leaking from the car.

Peoples Gas was called to stop the natural gas leak. Good Guyz Mini Mart was closed while the leak was fixed.

There were no injuries. The vehicle required towing. It sustained back-end and back-window damage.

Butler Township police also were on scene.
