Butler Twp PoliceThursday — Travis R. Hilliard, 30, of Butler was arrested on a felony count of retail theft stemming from a suspected shoplifting incident last month at the Home Depot store.Police allege Hilliard on May 11 took a Bosch hammer drill, valued at $729, from the store at Moraine Pointe Plaza.Hilliard, who has at least three prior shoplifting convictions, was arraigned on felony charges of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $20,000 bail.

State Police, ButlerSaturday — Several unspecified items were stolen from a man’s garage in a burglary on Christie Road in Washington Township. A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects in the break-in that happened between 7 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.2:16 p.m. Friday — A young bicyclist, who police did not identify, was hurt when the bike clipped a Peterbilt truck in Clinton Township. The youth was taken to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh with minor injuries.Police said the child was riding east on Roue 228 on the south berm when the eastbound trick passed the bike about the same time the youth tried to make a left turn. The bike’s handle bars hit the truck’s front passenger side bumper.The child’s condition was not known. Police did not identify the truck driver. No charges were filed. The Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department assisted police.

Butler Police4:16 p.m. Wednesday — Ryan N. Banner, 30, of Summit Township was picked up on an arrest warrant at a home in the 300 block of West North Street. A search turned up a syringe in one of his pants pockets.Banner is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.In connection with the arrest warrant, he was arraigned on five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail, court records showed.The Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department obtained the warrant in May stemming from a traffic stop March 15 in Evans City. Banner, a passenger in the vehicle, was found with suspected drug-related contraband.Wednesday — Police charged Brian R. Patterson, 32, with possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from a June 3 probation check at his home in the 400 block of Zeigler Avenue. Probation officers notified police after the discovery.Police said a used needle and empty stamp bags of suspected heroin were found in his bedroom. He was in the Butler County Prison for the probation violation.

State Police, KittanningSunday — Police reported they are investigating an alleged sexual assault at a home in Sugarcreek Township. Authorities did not identify the suspect, a man, who is accused of assaulting a girl between April 1 and May 20.The Armstrong County Children and Youth Services agency is assisting in the investigation.June 6 — Michael D. Floccari, 56, was charged with allowing his dog to bite a man in an East Franklin Township neighborhood.The dog got loose about 10:30 a.m. May 19 when Floccari failed to close the door to this house on Lorraine Avenue, police said. The extent of the victim’s injuries was not known. Police said the owner told authorities that the dog’s vaccinations were up to date.Floccari is charged with permitting a dog to attack a person without provocation, a summary offense.
