Volunteers are still needed to staff the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.

Now in its 8th year at Cooper's Lake Campground in Worth Township and downtown Butler, the festival will be June 8 to 10 and feature several new activities, organizers announced this week.

Jeep owners who plan to attend the festival with their Jeep can preregister until midnight Sunday at bantamjeepfestival.com.

On-site registration also will be available at Cooper's Lake starting at 8 a.m. each day of the event.

Anyone, age 18 and older, interested in volunteering is also required to sign up by Sunday night, said Patti Jo Lambert, festival director.

About 500 people, age 18 and older, are needed to staff the festival.

“The community rallies around this event each year and the Jeepers are excited to came back to Butler. We appreciate and welcome everyone's support,” Lambert said.

The Jeep Invasion will be held Friday night in downtown Butler and returning attractions at Cooper's Lake include the Jeep Playground, Babes of Bantam Trail Ride and the Best of Bantam cruise.

One new activity this year is the Bantam Proving Grounds Jeep Pull.

Jeepers will pull a weighted sled 100 feet and then stop so the sled comes to a rest as close to a specific stopping zone as possible.

“It's not just about the brawn of the Jeeps, it's about the finesse of the driver as well,” Lambert said.

The person who gets closest will win a plaque.

All of the $20 entry fee will be donated to K9s for Warriors and each Jeeper will receive a case of Pennzoil oil, valued at more than $20, and a photograph.

K9s for Warriors is a nonprofit organization that provides service dogs to military veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, according to its website.

Decorate Your Jeep, a chance for Jeep owners to accessorize and decorate their vehicles

“Bantam jeopardy,” a twist on the popular game show

Invasion After-Party, an event from 9 to 11 p.m. Friday night at Recon Brewing on Route 8 in Center Township.

Lambert said the organizers are hopeful that this year's event will top last year's mark of 2,040 Jeeps participating from 27 states.
