Showing the love

Ray and Edith Atkinson, a couple married 75 years, watch as their family drives by Friday morning at a parade for residents of Lowrie Place in Butler Township.

A parade of families Friday morning brought “happy tears” to residents of Lowrie Place, a senior personal care facility at 100 Sterling Village Drive in Butler Township, according to Carol Warner, life and enrichment coordinator.

Butler County may be in the green phase of the state's coronoavirus plan, but for those living in senior facilities life can still be a little lonely. While the 43 residents can meet with their families through “window visits,” the parade of more than 40 vehicles put smiles on the faces of residents.“It's just another way to see that they are loved and they are special,” Warner said. “They matter.”
