2:05 p.m. April 11 — Richard D. Hutchison, 62, of Slippery Rock, allegedly shoplifted $179 in merchandise at the Moraine Pointe Plaza Giant Eagle store. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

10:42 a.m. Friday — Darnell A. Wynn, 40, of Lyndora, was arrested on charges he entered a 24-year-old woman’s home on Route 8 in Center Township, and assaulted her. The woman was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital to be evaluated for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Wynn was arraigned on charges of burglary, simple assault and harassment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bond following arraignment.
8:32 p.m. Wednesday — A pickup truck rear-ended a slow-moving piece of farm equipment on Route 8 just south of Branchton Road in Cherry Township. Police did not release the names of the drivers. No injuries were reported.
Police noted the farm vehicle was properly marked and had its hazard lights on. The pickup sustained minor damage.
9:06 a.m. Wednesday — A 37-year-old Butler man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was allegedly found asleep in his vehicle at a convenience store on Route 8 in Center Township.
Police did not immediately release the name of the man, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Charges are pending lab results.
April 20 — Someone apparently made off with a handbag that a customer mistakenly left behind in a shopping cart at the Clearview Mall Giant Eagle store in Center Township.
The victim, a 47-year-old Chicora woman, told police that she noticed her red handbag missing after she left the store. But when she went back for it, the bag was gone. The bag contained about $400, two gift cards, a credit card and other personal items.
