Son allegedly stabs parents, steals pillsPITTSBURGH — Police arrested a Pittsburgh man Sunday after they say he stabbed his parents at their home in the Knoxville section shortly before 5 p.m., said public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.The suspect, described by police as a man in his 50s, reportedly stabbed his mother multiple times and his father once before cutting himself on the neck.Police say the man took oxycodone from his father’s pocket after the assault. The victims were taken to UPMC Mercy in stable condition. The suspect was treated at UPMC Presbyterian and then arrested. He’s expected to be charged with aggravated assault and robbery.
Classes canceled after worker’s injuryPITTSBURGH — Officials say Mt. Lebanon High School is closed today in connection with an accident Sunday when a construction worker was hospitalized following an electrical accident on school grounds.The rest of the district remains open.The victim was severely shocked after he cut an underground power line while performing demolition work at the school, which lost power.The unidentified man was rushed to UPMC Mercy for treatment of burns sustained in an arc flash.
