EVANS CITY — The borough has extended its disaster declaration to June 11 as residents continue to repair damage and clear debris from last week's storm.

The Connoquenessing Valley Regional Emergency Management Agency, or CVREMA, received the borough's disaster emergency declaration last Wednesday and said it is continuing to work with area officials and organizations to assess damage and provide assistance to residents, according to a release by the agency.

Heavy floods and winds ripped through the borough Tuesday and Wednesday, knocking down trees and flooding residents' homes, properties and local businesses.

Officials have since provided dumpsters in the borough for residents to dispose of trash and debris from the storm.

CVREMA and the borough announced Tuesday that additional dumpsters will be added near the VFW on North Washington Street. These will be removed Monday.

Dumpster use is restricted to residents removing items damaged in the storm. Residents are to refrain from disposing of electronics, liquids, petroleum products and other restricted items in the dumpsters. Signs posted around the dumpsters outline use restrictions.
