9 new cases of COVID confirmed in county

Butler County added nine confirmed new cases of COVID-19, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health's weekend report.

The state added 1,510 new confirmed cases and 23 deaths Saturday and Sunday.

The state's figures, updated as of noon Sunday, brings the commonwealth's total cases to 124,460 with 7,468 deaths since March.

Statewide, the recovery rate rose to 79 percent.

Butler County now has 728 cases and 17 deaths since the pandemic began. The county now has a total of 661 confirmed cases, 57 probable cases and 15,673 negative tests.

Allegheny County saw five new deaths over the weekend.

Beaver County, Westmoreland County and Armstrong County also recorded a COVID-19 death.

Venango County saw no new cases over the weekend and Mercer County added just six probable cases.

Gov. Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine listed Mercer County as one of 17 counties of concern last week.

Mercer County reported 86 new cases last weekend.

Following is a breakdown from surrounding counties since the pandemic began:Allegheny: 9,145 confirmed cases; 57 probable; 15,673 negative; 17 deaths.Armstrong: 241 confirmed; 1 probable; 4,656 negative; 9 deaths.Beaver: 1,368 confirmed; 39 probable; 14,433 negative; 94 deaths.Clarion: 82 confirmed; 7 probable; 2,331 negative; 2 deaths.Lawrence: 368 confirmed; 55 probable; 5,824 negative; 16 deaths.Mercer: 431 confirmed; 62 probable; 8,890 negative; 12 deaths.Venango: 52 confirmed; 15 probable; 3,778 negative; no deaths.Westmoreland: 1,575 confirmed; 45 probable; 33,751 negative; 48 deaths.
