5:57 a.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Joseph Wingerson, 42, of Butler turned and struck another vehicle on New Castle Road at the Butler Commons shopping plaza. Joseph Cicco, 75, of Butler was the other driver.
No one was injured, but both vehicles had to be towed. Police said Wingerson faces tickets for failing to stop at a red light and driving an unregistered vehicle.
11:20 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Joel S. Bayer, 49, of Cranberry Township rear-ended a sport utility vehicle that was stopped on Route 68 at Double Road in Connoquenessing Township. Mary B. Zapp, 52, of Renfrew was the other driver. No one was injured.Police cited Bayer for following too closely to another vehicle.3:30 p.m. Saturday — Cody L. Swager, 26, of Winfield Township was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his ex-fiancee during an altercation at a home on Stoney Hollow Road in Winfield Township.The victim allegedly told police that Swager shoved her and bit her on the right hand, leaving a puncture wound. The woman also had a small mark on her right elbow.The defendant allegedly fled the scene, but he was later arrested and arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $35,000 bail following arraignment.1:54 a.m. Aug. 2 — Candida Solinsky, 27, of Coraopolis, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Butler. Police said she was stopped for a traffic violation at East Penn and North Monroe streets.1:01 p.m. Aug. 1 — A car driven by Colin C. Burns, 26, of Pittsburgh struck an SUV at Route 356 and Marwood Road in Jefferson Township. James W. Morrow, 70, of Sarver was the other driver.No one was injured in the crash, but both vehicles had to be towed. Burns was cited for disobeying traffic control devices.
Tuesday — A 58-year-old Slippery Rock man reported that someone stole the tailgate off his 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 while the pickup was parked in a dirt parking lot across from the County Fair gas station on South Center Street Extension in Pine Township.The theft occurred between 5 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The tailgate is valued at $200.Monday — Police reported they are investigating a possible sexual assault July 27 involving two boys at the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township.The alleged victim is 13 years old, according to police.
3:38 p.m. July 30 — One person was injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Rianna D. Robinson, 40, of New Castle, one of the drivers, was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle with apparent minor injuries.Police said the crash occurred when a car driven by Dana Polding, 89, of New Castle turned into the path of Robinson’s car on Route 422 just west of Stoner Drive.Cited cited Polding, who was not injured, with improperly entering or crossing a road and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.
