RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Millie Martsolf will provide special music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

The Central Zone Nazarene Ministers and Mates dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Hoss's Restaurant in Grove City.

Offerings are being collected to assist the recent earthquake and tsunami victims.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Members of the fifth and sixth grade Sunday school class at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, are accepting pledges for their annual Rock-A-Thon to be held Friday through Sunday. Proceeds will benefit children's programs at the Island Playground.

Bridge Sunday will be observed at the 11 a.m. Sunday service. Music will be presented by His Kids, Joyful Voices and Little Lambs.

An information and planning session for youth and adults interested in attending the Creation Festival will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Volunteers are needed to provide wheelchair escorts at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Sundays in February. Sign-up sheets are available in the narthex.

Reservations for the adult Valentine's Dinner on Feb. 12 will be accepted starting Sunday. Tickets are available from youth group members.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

The youth of Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., will host a spaghetti dinner and dessert auction after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

A training session will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for members who plan to assist with the sound system during Saturday evening and Sunday morning services.

Lyric Ackelson, Patty Helms and Amanda Helms will provide music for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

COVENANT PRESBY

A sermon forum, to debate and ask questions about sermons past and present, will be held after the Sunday's worship service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. James Swanson will convene the forum.

Teresa Stricklin, assistant professor of homiletics at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, will lead the Seekers Class, at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room.

FAITH FULL GOSPEL

The 40 Days of Purpose campaign at Faith Full Gospel Church, 319 E. New Castle St., Zelienople, will begin at the 10 a.m. service on Jan. 30. A luncheon will follow.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will be among several area churches participating in a youth rally from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Grove City's First Baptist Church. A van will leave the church at 3 p.m. and return at 10 a.m.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

The annual congregational meeting of First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will follow the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Sisters in Christ will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

GLADE RUN U.P.

Confirmation classes for students in grades 8 to 12 will begin Feb. 13 at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia. Classes will meet at 5 p.m. Sundays through March 13. Students will join the church March 20. For information, contact the church office at 724-898-3503.

HILL U.P.

A Celebrate the Souper Bowl luncheon will be held after the service Jan. 30 at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. Proceeds will benefit the Covenant Food Cupboard. Participants should take a tailgate snack. A donation of $1 is requested.

The annual congregational meeting will be held after the 10:30 a.m. service on Feb. 6.

The instrumental ensemble will resume practices at 6:45 p.m. Sunday. The Kingdom Ringers youth handbell choir practice will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Registration for the Wednesday night Kids Club for children age 3 through grade 4 is now due. The spring session will be held Feb. 2 through March 16. A meal donation of $2 a week is requested. For information or to register, call Kathy Sawyer at 724-287-5427.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

A day of prayer and fasting in preparation for the "Come, Let Us Build" journey will be held Tuesday. A time of corporate prayer will be at 7:30 p.m. at The Bridge, 102 Bay St., Penn Township. The fast will be broken with the celebration of the Lord's Supper at the end of prayer time.

Kid's Hangin' Out Time will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Clearview Mall Chuck E. Cheese. The event is for students in preschool through grade 5. Due to the Sunday Steelers game, the senior high youth will now meet at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of Dr. Chris and Nancy Marshall. The middle school youth will meet at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of Jim and Amy Brown.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

The Bible Foundations Sunday school class at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., will begin a 10-week DVD study at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Fellowship Hall 2.

The annual congregational meeting will be held at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. A covered tureen luncheon will follow in Fellowship Hall.

Donations of freezer-ready baked goods for Meals on Wheels delivery during February can be left in the church kitchen on Feb. 6. Cakes and cookies should not have nuts or icing. Containers will not be returned.

OLD UNION PRESBY

The worship committee of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will meet after the Sunday worship service.

A meeting also will be held after the Sunday service to plan for the youth groups' spaghetti dinner on Feb. 19.

RIDER LUTHERAN

A confirmation class will be held after the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury.

SLIPPERY ROCK U.M.

David Benrexi will perform at the Praise Café Friday at Slippery Rock United Methodist, Franklin and Maple streets.

A marriage enrichment class will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday.

A meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday for those participating in the Rosebud Mission Trip.

Donations for tsunami relief will be collected through the end of January.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

Guest speaker Connie Frierson will deliver the sermon at the 11 a.m. Sunday service at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City.

The western New York ski trip for youth and associated adults will be Friday through Sunday.

The Christian education committee will host a chili and brownie cook-off and bingo night from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 5. Participants should take a white elephant gift for bingo. Donations will be accepted for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

ST. PETER'S EPISCOPAL

The Adult Education of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., is starting a new study this week. The group meets from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Sundays in the Guild Room.

Holy Eucharist will be observed at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The men's group of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dicky Road, Gibsonia, will host a Nite at the Races at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29. Cost is $10 and includes refreshments. Proceeds will benefit the orphanage in Patzun, Guatemala. For information, call the church office at 724-444-1971.

The parish is selling 3-pound tubs of cookie dough for $10 a tub to benefit the building fund. Orders can be placed by calling the church office by Jan. 30. Orders can be picked up Feb. 5.

A Pre-Youth Quake meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive.

TRINITY PRESBY

The Beaver-Butler Presbytery meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave.

The children and youth celebration will meet at 7 p.m. today.
