John Capers of Butler, owner of Capers Realty, has been re-elected district vice-president for 2011 for the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors.
Capers has been a Realtor for 53 years, and is a state certified residential appraiser.
He is a member of the Butler County Association of Realtors and has served as its president 10 times. He was twice named Realtor of the Year by his local association.
At the state level, Capers previously was district vice-president and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. He also is a trustee for the Realtors Political Action Committee.
Butler Health System in February received its licensure from the state Department of Health.The biennial process includes reviews of personnel files, medical staff credentialing files and safety and environment of care issues.The inspection process takes about a week.

The Hunter Family of Companies recently hired Carrie Roup of Gibsonia as its new human resource manager.Roup comes to Hunter, which is headquartered in Butler, from Clark Metal Products in Blairsville, Indiana County, where she was the human resources manager.She will oversee all human resource functions for Hunter's 15 locations in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
PITTSBURGH — The designers and builders of the Westinghouse Electric Co.'s international headquarters in Cranberry Township, will be honored with three other building projects at NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, Pittsburgh's annual awards banquet on Thursday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.There are four winners in the project and individual award categories this year. The Westinghouse project builder, Tramell Crow, will be awarded in the Best Build to Suit-Office category.
PROSPECT — The Butler County Chamber of Commerce will host the 17th annual Employee Appreciation Day with lunch at 11:30 a.m. April 20 at The Atrium on Route 422.It will include a small business expo, raffles and the luncheon will have a “Trip Around the World Menu.”The event also will feature the Employee of the Year award, sponsored by Butler Memorial Hospital. Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Butler County has elected four officers to serve as a new executive committee.They are: Larry Cicco, president; Gina Loebell, vice president; Mike Franko, treasurer; and Tony Shakely, secretary.
Butler Downtown has elected its 2011 board of directors.They are: Keith Graham, Butler Eagle; Thomas Graham, Frames & Pixels; Richard Maharg, Armstrong; Cheri Scott, The Scott-Stoughton Organization; and Eileen Stroup, Titus Networking. Cathy Glasgow, Butler County Ford, has started her second year on the board.The 2011 board officers are: Glasgow, president; Jonathan Dreher, vice president; Stan Kosciuszko, treasurer; and Brian McCafferty, immediate past president.
Burt Hill received an MBA Building Excellence award from the Master Builder's Association for its work on the Carnegie Mellon University Doherty Hall, Phase II renovation.
