623 Pa. COVID-19 cases, 15 deaths

County adds 1 case; 203 total

The number of positive coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania rose by 623 in 24 hours, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s daily report Sunday.

Statewide, the number of people infected was pegged at 62,234.

There was one additional case reported in Butler County, bringing the number to 203.

The health department reported there was an increase of 15 new deaths from Saturday to Sunday. The total number of deaths in the state is listed 4,418.

There were no new deaths in Butler County; its number stands at six.

“As counties move from red to yellow, we need all Pennsylvanians to continue to follow the social distancing and mitigation efforts in place,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. “We must continue to protect our most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, which includes our seniors, those with underlying health issues, our healthcare workers and our first responders.”

On Friday, Butler was one of more than a dozen counties that moved from Gov. Tom Wolf’s “red” to “yellow” phase, allowing some businesses to reopen after the most restrictive virus precautions were lifted.
