Members of Trail Life USA Troop PA-1418 race to the finish line pulling a sled they built for the Yukon Adventure on Saturday at Camp Lutherlyn.

FRANKLIN TWP — Bitter cold did not stop five Trail Life USA Troops from participating in the Yukon Adventure on Saturday at Camp Lutherlyn near Prospect.

The troops came from several communities across the region.

Eleven to 16-year-old trail men participated in a series of outdoor survival challenges including shelter building, wilderness first aid, teamwork and orienteering.

Their teams earned points as they transported all the necessary gear and raced from one challenge station to another on dog sleds built by the teens. The competition ended with a sled race.

This event was hosted by Trail Life USA Troop PA-1418, which meets at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot.

Trail Life USA was established in 2013 as an adventure organization for boys and has troops in 48 states. Its mission is: “To guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others, and experience outdoor adventure.”
