Motorcyclist remains critical

A Renfrew man remained hospitalized Monday in critical condition with injuries he suffered when his motorcycle struck a car Friday on Route 422 in Franklin Township.

Martin Kaczynski, 63, was in critical condition in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, hospital officials said Monday.

It was the same condition he was in Friday night after state police said he was not able to stop in time to avoid striking a car driven by Donnie Gundlach, 67, of Portersville after she pulled out of the Kwik Fill gas station and turned left onto the westbound lane just before noon.

Kaczynski, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling east.

A medical helicopter landed at the scene and took him to the hospital.

Gundlach was not injured, but was issued a citation for entering or crossing a road.
