County GOP endorses candidates
The Butler County Republican Committee met Saturday in Slippery Rock to endorse Republican candidates running for office in the Primary Election on May 18.
Candidates for county-wide offices and district justices had to receive 60% of the votes in their district to secure the endorsement. Ninety-one committee people participated in the selections.
In the race for Common Pleas Court judge, District Attorney Rich Goldinger and attorney Joe Kubit were nominated. Kubit won the endorsement.
For District Justice in Cranberry Township, attorney Kevin Flaherty and Russ Zangrilli were nominated. Flaherty was endorsed.
For District Justice in Evans City, Amy Marcinkiewicz and Joseph McCombs were nominated. Amy Marcinkiewicz won the endorsement.
For District Justice in Slippery Rock, Russ Karl, attorney Joe Nash and Jeff Steele were nominated. Since neither of the two candidates received 60% of the vote, both Karl and Nash were recommended.
For District Justice in Butler City, District Justice B.T. Fullerton will run for retention. He received a unanimous endorsement.
Candidates running unopposed and receiving unanimous endorsements were Lisa Lotz, clerk of courts; Ben Holland, controller; William Young III, coroner; and Mike Slupe, sheriff.
