Business marks 25th anniversary

Jay Shaffer

A business in downtown Butler celebrates its 25th anniversary this month.

Jay Shaffer began Jay G. Shaffer Financial in 1992, after a 20-year career in the hospitality industry.

Shaffer said he changed careers for his family.

“I wanted to spend more time with my wife and kids and do a better job of providing for them,” he said.

Once again located on North Main Street, having moved once before to a Center Township location, Shaffer offers such services as investment, retirement and insurances, among many others. He said he is glad to be back in downtown Butler.

“Butler's Main Street business district has gone through its ups and downs over the last 25 years,” he said. “I am an optimist, and I believe, based on the experiences I have had on one of Butler Downtown's committees, that the business climate in the city will continue to get better.”

Shaffer said he attributes his success to his honesty with customers.

“The financial services business has seen changes in procedures, products, regulations and use of technology,” he said. “But, my clients still want the same things from me: honest discussion about financial needs, usually in person, truthful advice and when needed, timely service.”

Shaffer said the community has also done a great deal to support him, but most of all, he is thankful to his wife and family.
