Attempted robbery gets defendant 5 years
PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man was sentenced in federal court to more than five years in prison on Tuesday.
David Lipinski, 37, was sentenced to 68 months in prison and five years of supervised release on his convictions for attempted robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
On April 27, 2016, Lipinski and his co-defendants, allegedly attempted to rob a van making a delivery of pharmaceutical drugs to the Giant Eagle in Gibsonia.
A firearm was brandished by Lipinski while he and an accomplice allegedly tried unsuccessfully to force the driver back into the van. Lipinski and the others then aborted the robbery attempt, authorities said.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives and the Northern Regional Police Department investigated.
