Flick, McPherson snare point titles
BUFFALO TWP — AJ Flick and Corey McPherson nailed down track championships Friday night as the 2018 points season came to a close at Lernerville Speedway.
Flick recorded his second consecutive Sprint points crown at Lernerville by winning the feature race that night. He held off Jack Sodeman Jr. for the title.
Flick tallied 369 points to Sodeman’s 357 this season. He has won three track titles at Lernerville in his career.
McPherson finished fourth in the Pro Stock feature while Saxonburg’s Tyler Dietz — his closest pursuer in the points chase — finished second. Ryan Moyer won the race.
McPherson edged Dietz 403 to 400 in the final points count, giving the former his sixth career Lernerville points championship in the Pro Stock division.
Sarver’s Michael Norris completed a dominant season in the Late Model division by picking up his eighth feature win of the campaign. Norris wrapped up the points title a few weeks ago.
The No. 72 car tallied 410 points on the year to beat out runner-up Ken Schaltenbrand by 101.
Rex King Jr. clinched the Modified points crown a few weeks earlier as well, but Brian Swartzlander found victory lane in the Modified feature Friday. King finished with 434 points this season. Runner-up Dave Murdick of Slippery Rock had 351.
