Rain can put a damper on the day of anyone looking to explore a state park, but severe weather can also cause problems for the parks.

Brian Flores, assistant manager of Moraine State Park, said heavy rain can raise the water level at Lake Arthur, which can make swimming or even boating a little more treacherous.

“It takes a lot of water, but if we get multiple storms or it rains day after day, that's going to raise the water level a little,” Flores said. “Couple that with drainage, that could affect some areas of the lake and shore.”
