9:08 a.m. Wednesday — Andrew M. Slywczuk, 30, was arrested after a probation check turned up suspected drugs at his apartment in the 400 block of West New Castle Street. County probation officers notified police after the finding.In Slywczuk's apartment, according to a police report, was a suspected heroin kit that included four syringes and a spoon with heroin on it. Police said they also found suspected LSD and a bag of marijuana.The defendant was placed in Butler County Prison for the violation. Police said he also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.Monday — An apartment on the 300 block of North Main Street was burglarized and $1,200 stolen. The 21-year-old tenant told police that the apartment was entered and ransacked between 4 p.m. Sunday and 12:09 a.m. Monday.Police said it appeared the front door was forced in. There are no suspects.Saturday — An unknown vandal or vandals pulled a bench-style swing out of the ground at a 61-year-old woman's home in the 300 block of First Street. The swing also was damaged in several places.
9:30 a.m. Wednesday — Nancy N. Deffner, 61, of Portersville was hurt when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and hit a ditch on Route 488 in Muddy Creek Township.Deffner, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Her husband took her to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police said she was cited for a lane violation.7:05 a.m. Wednesday — James M. Brahm, 32, of Seven Fields suffered minor injuries when his car crashed and overturned on Valencia Road just west of Leisie Road in Forward Township. Brahm, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.Police said he was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.7:10 p.m. June 10 — Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle wreck in Brady Township. The crash happened when Molly N. Joyce, 17, of Butler drove her vehicle through a red light at Route 8 and Staff Road,Joyce's vehicle struck a minivan driven by James Regrut, 79, of Slippery Rock. The collision forced the van into a car driven by Michele R. Mlakar, 49, of Gibsonia.Regrut and his passenger, Sandy Regrut, 74, of Slippery Rock, were both taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Both were wearing seat belts. Police said Joyce was cited for the red light violation.June 9 — About $1,350 worth of tools and equipment were stolen from Desuta Concrete Forms on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. The theft happened June 8 or 9. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
10:41 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Shadab Alam, 25, of Pittsburgh crashed into a guardrail on Route 28 in North Buffalo Township.8:19 a.m. Wednesday — A pregnant woman was hurt when she lost control of her car and struck a ditch and a bush on Glade Run Road just south of Pony Farm Road in North Buffalo Township.Ashlee A. Waltenbaugh, 26, of Kittanning, who is eight months pregnant, was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries. Police said Waltenbaugh, who was not wearing a seat belt, was cited for a lane violation.
