SRU hoops defeated

SLIPPERY ROCK — Committing 14 turnovers in the second half, the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team failed to allow a seven-point halftime lead to hold up in a 64-59 loss to the District of Columbia Saturday at Morrow Field House.

The Rock (1-4) shot just 32 percent in the second half after sinking five treys in the first 20 minutes.

Micah Till paced SRU with 24 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Jared Armstrong came off the bench to sink three treys for nine p[oints.

Vinny Lasley led The Rock with nine rebounds.

Bowie State 71, SRU (women) 53 — Brooke Hinderliter paced The Rock (1-3) Sunday with 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Morgan Henderson added a season-high 12 points.

Trailing by 19 points in the third qharter, SRU pulled within nine with three minutes to play, but got no closer.
